Introduction (The Practical Magic of the 5-Hour Workday )

Three Simple Steps

Happy Day! 🥳

About this lesson

Books literally saved my life…

Somehow, as a teenager, I had become the target of a gang of sectarian bullies wielding knives and a loaded 12-bore shotgun. In hopes of escaping, one day I fled into the public library.

And it was there, in the reference section at the very back of the building,

amongst rows of books not available for withdrawal but used for academic support, I found the sanctuary I was seeking… in more ways than one.

I knew my tormentors would never think of looking for me there.

But it was also there that I began to rummage through the shelves and found books on quantum physics and psychology… books which completely changed my thinking processes.

Most importantly, there was a section of biographies, where I read countless stories of achievers, all of whom had overcome far worse than I was suffering at the time. In them, I discovered common behavioural habits —

And I decided to mimic them.

Ever since, my life has been one great, joyful adventure.

I owe so much to books that, when I sold my first company, I decided to write one as a means of giving back. Three Simple Steps is a summary of what I learned from all those biographies and how I have applied them to my life.

I even donated a free copy to all 16,000 libraries in the U.S. I suppose it’s not surprising, then, that some of the best emails about adventure and success have come to me from people who were ‘stuck in quicksand’ before they found my book in a pile of others at their local library.

What could feel better than that?

Yet I knew there was more I wanted to write about…

I’ve had unprecedented success building single-person companies, and am proud to share my secrets for that with you.

Together, these books provide the basic tools needed to get out of the quicksand, take control of your mentality, and direct your newfound magical power into a vehicle that can take you to places you never imagined possible.

I’m living proof of their combined power.
